<image:title>Video Library Database - Letting Go of Overwhelm</image:title>
<image:caption>"So often the simple tasks of life can seem overwhelming. But feeling overwhelmed is only a reaction to them. Many things need to be done - laundry, housekeeping, car maintenance, bills, taxes, appointment, work - the every responsibilities of our lives. The task of quietly beginning , doing the first step of the first task can help us find our way through. Once we begin, we see that things aren’t overwhelming. The simple act of setting to the task simplifies it. Our sense of peace reappears in the magic of the present moment. Magic and power don’t come from contemplating all that lies ahead, how much needs to be done, all that might go wrong, whether we’ll get through. That’s fear. We don’t find the magic and power by denying, escaping, or ignoring our feelings, even feelings of being overwhelmed. Feel what you need to feel. Release it. Go forward in love, one moment at a time. We will be given the power to do all
we need to do. Take the simple steps
that lie before you. Take one step at a
time. You’ll find the way again." - Melody Beattie, “Journey To The Heart”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Recorded on March 17, 2021 this class begins with a gentle meditation and this reading: "If I had influence with the good fairy who is supposed to preside over the christening of all children, I should ask that her gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life, as an unfailing antidote against the boredom and disenchantment of later years, the sterile preoccupation with things that are artificial, the alienation from the sources of our strength." - Rachel Carson, "The Sense of Wonder: A Celebration of Nature for Parents and Children"</image:caption>

<image:caption>Recorded on March 3, 2022 this class is a powerful reminder of the importance of tending to oneself in order to be of service to the world. "We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait for to see what others do." ~ Mahatma Gandhi</image:caption>

<image:caption>Recorded on February 3, 2022, this class is a gentle reminder to remain open-hearted and open-minded. Begins with a reading from Pema Chodron: “We are at a time when old systems and ideas are being questioned and falling apart, and there is a great opportunity for something fresh to emerge. I have no idea what that will look like and no preconceptions about how things should turn out, but I do have a strong sense that the time we live in is a fertile ground for training in being open-minded and open-hearted. If we can learn to hold this falling apart–ness without polarizing and without becoming fundamentalist, then whatever we do today will have a positive effect on the future.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>Recorded on January 20th, this class reminds us of our creative power. “When we fully lay down the old, familiar life or mind and start creating the new, there is a moment between the two worlds that is bereft of anything we know, and most rush back from this void to the familiar. That place of uncertainty—the unknown—is what the maverick, the mystic, and the saint know to be fertile ground. To live in the realm of the unpredictable is to be all potentials at once. Can you become comfortable in this empty space? If you can, you are at the nexus of a great creative power, the ‘I am’. “ - Dr. Joe Dispenza, “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself”</image:caption>

<image:title>Video Library Database - The Beginning Breaking Through</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on November 30, 2021 this class embraces the beauty of nature and the energy of new beginnings that each morning brings. The Truth About Morning by Mark Nepo " There is a vastness that quiets the soul. But sometimes we are so squarely in the midst of life’s forces that we can’t see what we’re a part of. The truth about morning is that it is the small light of the beginning breaking through, again and again. It is a wisdom so large and clear, one which carries us through our lives so quietly and completely that we seldom see it. Day after day, we are covered with the dust and grit of what we go through. It tends to weigh us down, and then we think and scheme and problem solve. Then we worry if it will all really work, and if it is the right thing to do. It all makes us dark and cluttered. But despite our stubbornness of concern, we tire and must turn what has happened over to the hammock of night. This is a good thing. For no matter how unfinished we seem, the letting go into sleep is nothing short of a quiet miracle. This letting go into sleep is an innate, reflexive form of meditation, no different than a fly rubbing its face or a doe licking its fawn. Sooner or later, without discipline or devotion, despite our resolutions and mistakes, we each must sleep. We must surrender to the quieting of all intent and regret, so that the small light of the beginning can rise in us, again and again. There is no escaping this profound simplicity: what happens covers us like dirt. It covers our hearts and minds, till, at the shore we call exhaustion, we slip into the waters of sleep in a daily sort of baptism, so we can begin again. So whenever you feel urgent or overwhelmed, whenever you feel pressed to figure things out or to rethink the unthinkable…rest…so that the endless beginning—which some call the voice of God—might break through what has happened. And you will wake feeling like dawn." ~Mark Nepo, The Book of Awakening</image:caption>

I honour you for each moment that you choose love and connection over fear and separation. Though our stories may be spoken in unfamiliar languages, we may wear strange adornments and call god by a different name, you and I are woven together and entwined with countless others. We are all threads in the same tapestry, sovereign yet supported, and made stronger and brighter by each other. <image:title>Video Library Database - Ordinary Awakening</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on June 17, 2021 this class begins incorporates the passage, a simple yet profound description of the truth of who we are: "In religious and spiritual movements, we often unnecessarily and tragically separate truth into an enclave of transcendence. I would never deny the transcendent qualities of self-realization, but until we recognize that the truth is alive in each of us - just as we are, in our own particular and unique ways, in our own particular circumstances and communities - we have realized only partial truth. I had always imagined that realizing the truth would mean that the personality would disappear, or perhaps this form would dissolve into holy vapour. But actually, and importantly, it was very ordinary - and most intimate. This form actually became more ordinary than ever. My opinions still arose, thoughts still arose, emotions still arose, but there was no more mistaking these for reality. I had heard the teaching that the world of form is illusion, and I had imagined that the realization of a formless nonduality would involve some sort of disappearance. Quite the contrary - it has been an endless delight to find that this limitless presence of conscious life is present regardless of formation. It is all. It is the source of and the very substance of every thought formation, every emotion, every circumstance, every creature. In this moment, you are eternal truth. Everything that you imagine yourself to be arises in that truth, exists in that truth, and disappears back into that truth. Truth is the essential nature of consciousness, and consciousness is the source of individual awareness. Truth is the essence of life. Truth is who you are.” -Gangaji, “On the Mystery of Being”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Video Library Database - Shedding our skin/dropping our shields</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on June 8, 2021, this is a powerful practice about letting go and allowing life force to do what it naturally does...flow freely. For my reading tonight, I was inspired to draw a card in real-time with the participants from a deck called "Wild Woman Mystery Cards - an enchanting journey to your true self" by Elizabeth MacLeod. I drew a card called Snake Woman, and here is the message: The old shields are dropping and are no longer necessary in your life. Like the snake shedding its skin, you are doing the same. If it hasn't happened yet, you re being asked to examine the colours in your life and whether or not you still suit the weaving of them. The snake devours each meal whole. Eat your life whole. Pay attention to the details and express what's on your mind with the intent of spiritual and personal growth. Examine the areas in your life that need attention and shed your defences. Look inside yourself and find where your obstacles lie. What do you feel? What do you need to do to stay on your spiritual path? Who do you need to involve in this process? Examine what you need and shed into your serpent self boldly. Birth into yourself. Devour your life whole.</image:caption>

<image:title>Video Library Database - We change the world by starting with ourselves</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on June 1, 2021. In honour of the 215 indigenous children who's bodies were recently discovered at the Kamloops Residential School. I chose to dedicate this practice to them and to the ongoing need to honour the Oneness in all of us. At the end of the practice, I share two quotes from Richard Wagamese. “This is how you change the world, the smallest circles first… That humble energy, the kind that says, ‘I will do what I can do right now in my own small way,’ creates a ripple effect on the world.” ------- 'I've been considering the phrase 'all my relations' for some time now. It's hugely important. It's our saving grace in the end. It points to the truth that we are all related, that we are all connected, that we all belong to each other. The most important word is 'all'. Not just those who look like me, sing like me, dance like me, speak like me, pray like more or behave like me. ALL my relations. That means every person, just as it means every rock, mineral, blade of grass, and creature. We live because everything else does. It we were to choose collectively to live that teaching, the energy of our change of consciousness would heal each of us - and heal the planet.' - Richard Wagamese, "EMBERS - One Ojibway's Meditations”</image:caption>

<image:title>Video Library Database - No Amount of Thinking Can Stop Thinking</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on May 27, 2021 this class reflects on the following passage by Mark Nepo: Off the Merry -Go-Round No amount of thinking can stop thinking. Overthinking is an annoying reflex of being human. Often in overanalyzing a problem or replaying what to say or what to do, I feel like a cow shooing a fly that will never go away. We all do this. No one is exempt. Feeling insecure, I can endlessly repeat the things that should make me feel solid about myself, and all the while my esteem keeps unraveling. What is there to do? I'm reminded of Einstein's insight that the manner of thinking that creates a problem cannot be the means by which to solve it. In simple terms, when spinning out, the only thing to do, hard as it seems, is to get off the mental merry-go-round. This is truly the terrain of faith, jumping into the risk to stop in mid-thought, believing that some deeper knowing will wash over us. In truth, no amount of thinking about yourself will give you confidence, just as no amount of thinking about the sun will warm you, just as no amount of thinking about love will hold you. Confidence and love and the light of the world wait below all the labours of our mind. - Mark Nepo, "The Book of Awakening" May 27th passage</image:caption>

In actuality, hope is the energy of life filtering through the honesty of all its impediments. <image:title>Video Library Database - The Light of your Conscious Presence</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on April 20, 2021 this practice calls us into a place of deep surrender where we find the courage to shine the light of presence through the thick fog that surrounds us. “There is something within you that remains unaffected by the transient circumstances that make up your life situation, and only through surrender do you have access to it. It is your life, your very Being - which exists eternally in the timeless realm of the present. Let me give you a visual analogy: You are walking along a path at night, surrounded by a thick fog. But you have a powerful flashlight that cuts through the fog and creates a narrow, clear space in front of you. The fog is your life situation, which includes past and and future, the flashlight is your conscious presence; the clear space is the Now.” - Eckhart Tolle, “The Power of Now”</image:caption>

<image:title>Video Library Database - Being with our Shenpa</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on April 6, 2021, this class guides you into a place of deep inner peace...where it is possible to embrace all that is, even are discomforts and dislikes. “The discomfort associated with groundlessness, with the fundamental ambiguity of being human, comes from our attachment to wanting things to be a certain way. The Tibetan word for attachment is shenpa. Shenpa has a visceral quality associated with grasping or, conversely, pushing away. This is the feeling of I like, I want, I need and I don’t like, I don’t want, I don’t need, I want it to go away. I think of shenpa as being hooked. It’s that stuck feeling, that tightening or closing down or withdrawing we experience when we’re uncomfortable with what’s going on. Shenpa is also the urge to find relief from those feelings by clinging to something that gives us pleasure. But there’s an approach we can take to the fundamental ambiguity of being that allows us to work with, rather than retreat from, feelings like fear and aversion. If we can get in touch with the sensation as sensation and open ourselves to it without labelling it good or bad, then even when we feel the urge to draw back, we can stay present and move forward into the feeling.” - Pema Chodron “Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Video Library Database - True Compassion</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on March 30, 2021 “Compassion is the awareness of a deep bond between yourself and all creatures.” “There are two sides to compassion, two sides to this bond. On the level of form, you share mortality and the precariousness of existence. On the level of Being, you share eternal, radiant life. True compassion goes beyond empathy or sympathy. It does not happen until the seemingly opposite feelings of sadness and joy merge into one and become transmuted into a deep inner peace. This is the peace of God. It is one of the most noble feelings that humans are capable of, and it has great healing and transformative power. True relationship becomes possible only when there is an awareness of Being. Coming from Being, you will perceive another person's body and mind as just a screen, as it were, behind which you can feel their true reality, as you feel yours. So, when confronted with someone else's suffering or unconscious behaviour, you stay present and in touch with Being, all suffering is recognized as an illusion. Suffering is due to identification with form. Miracles of healing sometimes occur through this realization, by awakening Being-consciousness in others -- if they are ready.” - Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now</image:caption>

Rumi's famous poem, The Guest House is shared at the end of the practice. The Guest House - by Rumi Translated by Coleman Barks This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. <image:caption>Recorded on February 23, 2021 this practice has extra focus on the importance of embodiment. Practice begins with the sharing of a poem I wrote. Yearning to expand, our souls chose to embody into human form. To experience the polarities of pain and pleasure good and evil dark and light. To experience Separation in order to increase Oneness. We fell from the all-knowing and woke up in human bodies. Naked, afraid and vulnerable forgetting where we came from and why searching everywhere for the answer until, finally, we look within the most unlikely of places THE BODY …what better place to hide the divine? - Patti Wardlaw</image:caption>

      <image:title>Video Library Database - Falling Into Grace</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on February 9, 2021 “Often, what keeps us from joy is the menacing assumption that life is happening other than where we are. So we are always leaving, running from or running to. All the while, joy rises like summer wind, waiting for us to grow in the open, large as willows it can sing through. Yet failing to grow in the open, we can be worn to it. Though working with what we’re given till it wears us through seems to be the grace we resist. Like everyone, I’ve spent so much of my life fearing pain that I’ve seldom felt things all the way through. And falling through more than working through, I’ve learned that if we can stay true to our experience and to each other, and face the spirit that experience and love carry, we will eventually be reduced to joy. Like cliffs worn to their beauty by the pounding of the sea, if we can hold each other up, all that will be left will be wonder and joy.” -Mark Nepo</image:caption>

Superficial changes are possible, but real transformation is rare and depends upon whether you can become present enough to dissolve the past by accessing the power of the Now. What you perceive as future is an intrinsic part of your state of consciousness now. If your mind carries a heavy burden of past, you will experience more of the same. The past perpetuates itself through lack of presence. The quality of your consciousness at this moment is what shapes the future - which, of course, can only be experienced as the Now.” - Eckhart Tolle, “The Power of Now”</image:caption>

<image:title>Video Library Database - See Life Through the Eyes of The Soul</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on January 26, 2020 “Once many, many years ago, I woke up in the middle of the night. Only I wasn’t in bed sleeping. I was on the ceiling looking down at my body lying on the bed. I studied myself, a little suprised at how unusual I looked from the outside. The next thing I knew, I was more than a body; I had a soul. I was about to embark on a path that would consciously connect me to that soul - experiences on the path to freeing the soul. Throughout my life I have had many conscious desires and expectations about my life. I wanted this, I wanted that. I wanted my life to be arranged just so. What I’ve understood is that the journey I’m taking is not one based on arranging my life in a particular way, then keeping it just so. The journey I’ve been on and what I’ve been seeking has been the journey of my soul. Much in life can cause us distress and discomfort when we look with our conscious mind. But if we look beyond what we can see on the surface, we’ll begin to see with the eyes of the soul. The lessons run deep. Often they take time to learn. We learn about power. We learn about love. Courage. Faith. Saying good-bye. Embracing deep love for ourselves. Learn to see life with the eyes of the soul. Experience all the emotions that are there. Discover your truths. Seek conscious peace as much as you can, and seek peace in your soul as well. Let you should lead you through meadows, and take you down deep into the valleys, for all your experiences are just
that - experiences - on this mysterious
journey of the soul.” - Melody Beattie, “Journey To The Heart - Daily Meditations on the Path to Freeing Your Soul” January 26 mediation</image:caption>

<image:title>Video Library Database - Heart and Mind Harmony</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on January 19, 2021. “In order to be heart minded, we need to bring the heart and mind into harmony and partnership with one another. For this to happen, we have to train the mind not to fear and close off from the heart, and instead, serve our heart and implement its wishes. In order to do this, we have to undo our mind’s association of feelings of the heart with hurt and harm. In situations that would ordinarily have us retreat or retaliate, we need to remain conscious of what’s happening and choose to soften and lean into our heart’s center. Each time we practice this softening, we send a new message to the mind that signals that we are safe, willing, and wanting to live in this more open, more sensitive way. Over time, if we are resolute in our intention to step into our heart, our mind will become less rigid in its defenses against feelings and tenderness, and gradually we will become more heart centered. Remember, we are not trying to pit the heart and mind against one another; we are trying to marry their aptitudes. Perhaps it would help to spell out how I see their differences: The mind attaches; the heart lets go. The mind operates out of fear and distrust; the heart operates on faith and ease. The mind is frantic in its functioning; the heart is slow, deliberate, and peaceful. The mind thrives on and enjoys problem seeking and solving; the heart thrives on acceptance of all things and labels nothing as “wrong” or “right.”” — “Heart Minded: How to Hold Yourself and Others in Love” by Sarah Blondin</image:caption>

<image:title>Video Library Database - The Force of Kindness (with the sound of west coast rain falling on my roof) :)</image:title>
<image:caption>Recorded on January 12, 2021 “A commitment to kindness can be the thread that twines throughout our various successes, disappointments, delights and traumas, making our lives seamless, giving us ballast in a world of change, a reservoir of hurtfulness to infuse our choices, our relationships, and our reactions.
To explore kindness as that thread of meaning requires finding out if we can be strong and still be kind, be smart and still be kind, whether we can be profoundly kind to ourselves and at the same time strongly dedicated to kindness for those around us. We have to find the power in kindness, the confidence in kindness, the release in kindness; the type of kindness that transcends belief systems, allegiances, ideologies, cliques, and tribes. This is the trait that can transform our lives.” Sharon Salzberg, “The Force of Kindness, change your life with love and compassion”</image:caption>

<image:caption>and Retreats is the heart-child of Patti Wardlaw and Ariel Learoyd - friends who found they shared a love of the magic that happens when groups of open-hearted wise women join in conscious community. From their first collaboration – Retreat Into Stillness, Sept 2018 – Patti and Ariel felt the synergy of their strengths and intentions and were inspired to create workshops and retreat opportunities to mark the natural stopping points in the year – the Equinoxes and Solstices. Each of these gatherings are crafted to honor the rhythms and cycles of nature and to consciously align our rhythms with them through movement, meditation, ceremony and Soul work.</image:caption>
